Our Data Science Bootcamp is launching in Melbourne this spring!

This new intense 9-weeks Data Science course, which has been running in Paris, London, Berlin and Shanghai since January this year, aims at providing you with all the tools you need to work on Data Science projects. Here are all the good reasons you should join us this spring!
Summary

I. The course's content.

A year spent in building this course

It is not a coincidence Le Wagon started its Data Science in 2020: the market is ready and Data Science jobs are increasing greatly, which was not the case when Le Wagon started in 2013.

Our technicals teams spent a year designing this course with industry experts from Instacart, Machine Learning Academy, Airbnb, STYCKR, Ava Accessibility and Resteo. This is the guarantee that what you will learn, and the tools you will use, are in adequation with the industry today. As it is a very fast-changing industry, we are constantly getting feedbacks from both teachers and students to improve and update the course as time goes by
Industry experts involved in building this course

It has been running in Paris, London, Berlin and Shanghai since January 2020, with great success. The course will be launched this year in Lisbon, Brussels, Buenos Aires, Mexico, Lyon, Tokyo, Bordeaux, Belo Horizonte, Marseille, Montreal, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Amsterdam, and Singapore. That's right, we are not joking around: Le Wagon wants to train 7000 people in Data Science by 2023

The most up-to-date curriculum to get you market-ready

The Data Science Bootcamp, much like the Web Development one, is Product-Oriented. The objective is to have you graduating with Data Science Projects under your belt. This is why you will spend the last two weeks of the Bootcamp working on solving a business problem! This is a very important step for our students as this project can be a launchpad to the job of their dreams ✨

Weeks 1-2: Data Science fundamentals
Week 3: Decision Science
Weeks 4-5: Machine Learning
Week 6: Deep Learning
Week 7: Data Engineering
Weeks 8-9: Data Science Final Projects
Demo Day: Presentation of the Final Projects

And if you want to get really specific, here are some of the numerous tools and skills you will learn:
- Data Science tools: Jupyter Notebook, Pandas, data visualization
- Mathematics principles of Data Science: statistics, probabilities, linear algebra
- Machine Learning: linear and logistic regression, scikit-learn, overfit problem
- Machine Learning in production: Google Cloud Platform
- Deep Learning: Kears, brain cells network, computer vision, Natural Language Processing (NLP)
- Good practices: GitHub, Data Science projects management, presentation of the results and recommendations

Each participant leaves the Bootcamp with all the tools and knowledge needed to collect, store, clean, explore and use data, as well as predicting behaviors based on data. You're ready for the market as you finish the course

Remote or on-campus

The current situation in Melbourne is not the best, that is a fact. Luckily, we adapted to the situation months ago: our batches have been running remotely since March. Same great content, same great teachers, same loving and caring staff... In the comfort of your own home. When the situation gets better, and if you wish, you will be able to do the course on-campus.

You don't live in Melbourne and still want to follow the course? Well, you're in luck: we will run a hybrid course, which means you can do it fully remotely, no matter where you are based

II. The course's pedagogy.

  Our very best recipe

This new course’s recipe includes Le Wagon’s most successful ingredients: its intensive format, and its content, which is 80% made of hands-on exercises on real data science projects

Putting the word 'team' in 'teamwork'

Teamwork as our number one priority, and you will definitely feel it throughout the course.

Andrew Deece, the lead teacher, is a machine learning engineer specialized in AI Research. He worked on huge transformation projects for blue-chip companies, and became interested in the efficient use of Data analysis for design, build, automation, and optimization.

"I'm fascinated by how Machine Learning can be used to solve challenging real-world problems. Teaching is another passion of mine, and with teacher parents, I naturally learned how to teach complicated stuff with an easy-to-follow language."
- Andrew, lead teacher

Career coaching

During the Bootcamp, you will also have personal coaching sessions and workshops with Jamie Speight, a professional coach and career mentor. He will help you pave your own path to the tech world, step by step

We believe in our pedagogy and its capacity to change people's lives. It is not a coincidence that the Bootcamp has been ranking #1 Bootcamp on Switchup and CourseReport for 4 years in a row (not that we are bragging)
Sheila, Web Development Lead teacher, and Manon, marketing officer and currently writing this article.

III. The current market for Data Science in Melbourne.

Data Scientist was already named 'the sexiest job of the 21st' by Harvard Business Review in 2012. They were absolutely right. It is already an incredibly high demand market, and it will only increase as we now produce more than 2.5 quintillion bytes... per day. Forbes reported in 2018 that 90% of the world data were produced in the last couple of years. Taking this into consideration, it is no surprise to see the demand for data scientists increasing greatly in Australia and all over the world

According to Indeed (see chart), the job postings for Data Science jobs increased by 58% in 2019. Data Engineers and Data Scientist are the 3rd and 4th most demanded digital skills in 2019 in Australia according to Hays Jobs Report. With the COVID-19 crisis, many tech companies worldwide moved remotely and are now willing to hire in other countries. Working remotely can get you even more job opportunities!

To put it in very simple words... Data is the new gold

Convinced? We bet you are! Join us this spring, remotely or in Melbourne!
