What were you doing before Le Wagon and what led you to enroll?

Before Le wagon I was a door to door salesman selling roofing, so not really a career... Around Christmas time, I decided I needed a change in career. I had done one year of Physics at university where we had touched on a little bit of coding and I had actually really enjoyed it. This is why I decided to look around and see if there where any coding courses. That's when I found Le Wagon! I decided to apply to it and I didn't think much would happen after that. A day later, I got an interview with them and joined the January batch that was starting 3 weeks down the line. On the phone they sounded so full of energy that it just made me want to do the course even more.

Did you have any difficulties with learning during the Bootcamp, and (if so) how did you get over them?

One of the things I was worried about when I first started is that I was going to be behind other people, but when I arrived I realised that we were all in the same boat! I never felt like I was struggling more than others. Also, the work environment at Le Wagon was very energetic and made me want to learn more.

How did you stay motivated throughout the course?

One of the things that I knew before starting the course was that I wanted a career change. So I never really struggled with staying motivated as I knew it was something I wanted to do, had to do and was really enjoying doing at the same time.

What was the best part of your bootcamp experience?

The best part for me personally was the people I met. I made friends that I am going to keep for a long time. Another big thing was the fact that a lot of them had the same expectations as me and wanted a career change, so it never felt scary to me.

What’s your experience post Le Wagon? What are you doing now? How long did it take you to find a job afterwards?

Right now I am working at Mumsnet as a Junior Ruby Developer, which is absolutely amazing. I was luckily able to find a job just 2 weeks after the course, with a lot of help from one of the TA's who prepared me for the technical test.

What was the most valuable takeaway from Le Wagon for you?

The most valuable thing that I took away from Le Wagon is that you can change your life/career if you have the right mindset and a great place like Le Wagon to help you through the change. Also I will always remember and stay in touch with the people that I met at Le Wagon.
