What were you doing before Le Wagon and what led you to enroll?

I used to be a police officer for 5 years and had worked in different fields before that. Before starting my coding journey last August, I was looking for my dream career. I soon realized I was enjoying coding a lot, but quickly felt that I needed help in order to achieve my goals. That's why I decided to attend Le Wagon.

Did you have any difficulties with learning during the Bootcamp, and (if so) how did you get over them?

Frankly speaking, I did struggle to some degree at the beginning of the bootcamp since everything was new to me. I see myself as a determined person, so everyday during the bootcamp I would review what I had learned during the day and preview the course we had the next day. I also managed to make the best use of the tickets whenever I couldn't figure out the solution by myself.

How did you stay motivated throughout the course?

I had some concerns that 9 weeks would not be enough to become a web developer. Having this target in mind helped me to stay focused and motivated. And I was actually really wrong, because 9 weeks is enough at Le Wagon.

What was the best part of your bootcamp experience?

Apart from the beers and the lovely staff, I'd say my favorite part of the bootcamp was pair-programming. During the pairing process, I got to know how other programmers were thinking when writing a piece of code, I really felt we were learning from each other. In my opinion, this makes a huge difference with self-taught programmation.

What’s your experience post Le Wagon? What are you doing now? How long did it take you to find a job afterwards?

For me, the end of the bootcamp was just the start of my coding journey. After my Demo Day in December I spent some time traveling, so I didn't start my job hunting until January. Once started, I've been extremely serious on learning new programming languages and visiting various tech job venues. I got 2 offers on the 7th week, after submitting 134 applications and undergoing 13 interviews. I'm now working at Fixter as a Full Stack Node Developer.

What was the most valuable takeaway from Le Wagon for you?

My most valuable takeaways from Le Wagon are the understanding of basic web applications structure and the cooperation as a team. In my current daily work life, the experiences I had during the course are helping a lot, which I do appreciate from the bottom of my heart.
