I’ve joined a friendly and supportive community that I can always go back to if I need help or just want a catch up!

What were you doing before Le Wagon and what led you to enroll?

I had just graduated from university with a degree in Classics and was unsure what I wanted to do and what industry I wanted to get into. I had applied to jobs unsuccessfully, probably because the employers could tell I wasn’t particularly interested in the roles. Eventually some friends suggested that I might like coding, and having looked around at courses, I decided on Le Wagon. It had the best reviews and seemed to cover a lot. I signed up quite close to the starting date, but Le Wagon was very helpful and made me feel confident about joining.

Did you have any difficulties with learning during the Bootcamp, and (if so) how did you get over them?

The biggest difficulty I had during the course was not necessarily with the learning, but wondering whether this would be enough knowledge to go out into the real world and find an actual coding job. This proved to be an unnecessary concern, as the Bootcamp sets you up nicely, giving you the skills and support in going to look for a job.

How did you stay motivated throughout the course?

I really enjoyed the coding, and that was enough to keep me motivated. But the teachers were also so lovely and supportive that if ever I had felt worried about the course, I would not have hesitated to ask them for advice.

What was the best part of your bootcamp experience?

Working in teams for the project weeks was definitely the best part. It felt like we were proper coders working towards a goal, experiencing what it would be like to work for a start up. My team got on really well, and had a lot of fun building our project which I am proud of.

What’s your experience post Le Wagon? What are you doing now? How long did it take you to find a job afterwards?

I started looking for jobs immediately after I finished, and after two months of job-hunting was offered a place at a Ruby on Rails consultancy. I’m really excited about this role, and am looking forward to developing my skills. The job hunt was much better than before Le Wagon, since I was applying to companies that I was actually interested in, and had a valuable skill that I could offer them.

What was the most valuable takeaway from Le Wagon for you?

I finally felt confident looking for a job that I knew I would enjoy and could excel in. I also feel like I’ve joined a friendly and supportive community that I can always go back to if I need help or just want a catch up!
