Goal:
Imposter syndrome. Stereotypes. Culture. For many reasons, lots of us feel uncomfortable sharing our achievements. By amplifying stories and research on the transformative power of self-promotion, we want to inspire every single person to share their accomplishments. Our 90-minute workshops are designed to help participants challenge their own views and empower them to start sharing their achievements with the world.
Objectives
- Help participants become aware of stereotypes and biases against people of underrepresented groups who vocally express their achievements
- Explore the challenges around self-promotion, such as ‘bragging’
- Increase levels of self-advocacy for everyone attending
- Encourage and utilize the potential of group sharing
- Practice vocally expressing achievement
- Create an inclusive and safe space where everyone feels comfortable sharing
Outcomes
- Empower everyone, including underrepresented groups, to overcome cultural and social norms and stereotypes - by giving them the tools to increase their comfo and confidence in self-promotion.
- Challenge social norms by promoting and running workshops in your organization and communities for family, friends, colleagues, peers, clients, and others. In this interactive session, you will participate in group discussions and exercises to increase your comfort and confidence in self-promotion.
During this 90-minute workshop, we will:
- Reflect on our own limiting beliefs on self-promotion.
- Share data and research regarding self-promotion and bias.
- Go through the main exercise to help you identify and share your achievements.
- Wrap up with discussion and take-home exercise
