We are running hybrid classes: learn to code from home or on campus

In this time of uncertainty due to COVID-19, we help our students make the most out of this period and acquire strong technical skills. To ensure the safety of our students and staff, some of Le Wagon campuses are now running hybrid classes, enabling students to learn either from home or on-campus when possible, with all the measures in place to ensure a safe working environment. We are using all the tools and resources to ensure a top-quality and engaging experience for all our students 👩‍💻.

This is what a day in the life of a Le Wagon student working from home looks like 👇

How we created a Remote Learning Environment

Since March 2020, our students have had the possibility to learn to code from home. All of this with the same support from our teachers and teaching assistants and the same interaction with your classmates as in our on-campus course.

Full-time bootcamp

Lecture (9:00 AM)

Every day, your lead teacher launches a live lecture at 🕘 9:00 a.m. on Zoom. All students join on time and you can ask your questions at any time during the lecture, like in a real classroom. All the lectures are filmed and available on Le Wagon's learning platform so that you can watch them later to catch up if you miss a lecture or want to rehearse during the week-end.

Coding challenges (10:30 AM - 5:00 PM)

After the lecture, you complete the programming challenges on our learning platform, collaborating with a different classmate every day as you would do in our on-site course. For that, you get immediate help from our teachers and teaching assistants as you would on-campus. Teacher and teaching assistants provide 1:1 support through video calls on Slack (our instant messaging tool) where they help you solve your problems whenever you are stuck. Below is an example of how you can post a question (or "ticket") on our platform and receive an immediate answer from a teacher to start a video call.

In addition to this, students join a virtual table every day. Virtual tables are virtual rooms allowing students to work together in groups of four, just as if they were sitting around a table on campus! After the lecture, all students join their buddy of the day as well as another pair of students at their table and start working on coding challenges together. This creates a supportive work environment which streamlines the learning process and boosts their motivation. Discover virtual tables through the eyes of a Le Wagon student learning remotely.

Live-code (5:00 PM - 6:00 PM)

At 🕔 5:00 p.m, you start the live-code session. Your lead teacher invites all students to join a Zoom meeting where they correct one important challenge of the day, or work on a different challenge introducing new concepts. As in the morning lecture, you can interact and ask all your questions during the live-code.

Part-time bootcamp

As a part-time student, you have remote sessions following the same schedule as for on-campus bootcamps: on Tuesday evenings, Thursday evenings and Saturdays all day.

A close monitoring in every city

In every city, we are closely monitoring the status of COVID-19 and strictly applying recommendations from the World Health Organisation, governments and public health authorities.

Some of our campuses are running hybrid classes with all the tools and resources to create the best experience for all our students.
