Learn the basics of web development
* Code your first landing page in 2 hours:
We'll teach you to code and design your own landing page using HTML and CSS.
* Learn the basics of API :
What it takes to link different IT systems together thanks to this common tool called an Application Programming Interface (API).
Before attending, make sure to :
Bring your laptop fully charged as you will be coding, this is a hands-on workshop
Install Chrome if you don't have it yet
Install Sublime Text (https://www.sublimetext.com/3). This is a text editor specially designed for programmers

14h - 16h * Code your first landing page in 2 hours :
A landing page allows you to guide your web traffic into business with a clear call-to-action.
Main take away skills are :
- Learn HTML, HTML a language that defines the structure and content of your web page.
- Learn CSS is the language that gives style to HTML elements. Without CSS, web pages would all have the same design
16h15 - 18h * Learn the basics of API :
Have you ever wondered how Facebook is able to automatically display your Instagram photos? How about how Evernote syncs notes between your computer and smartphone?
In this workshop, we'll walk you through what it takes to link different IT systems together thanks to this common tool called an Application Programming Interface (API). Using examples of AirBnb, Uber and many more, the workshop will look at how Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) can generate incredibly useful features that we use everyday on the web.
Here is an overview of what you’ll learn on the evening:
- The basics of Web APIs - what they are, how they work and why they matter
- Examples of Airbnb, Uber, Timeout and many more and demonstrate how they can be used in action
