Our web development course in Rio de Janeiro is an immersive experience that takes you from beginner to junior software developer in 9 weeks. At the end of the course, you will know how to build a robust and user-friendly software that answers your users' needs, and to follow the right workflow to collaborate with other developers, designers and product managers.
Our web development course in Rio de Janeiro is designed to make you learn to code step by step, until you can build your own web applications from scratch.
Our Web Development Course is very intense. To save time and nail it from the beginning, our students must complete the PrepWork on our custom-built platform before starting the bootcamp. This work takes around 40 hours and gives our students a basic knowledge of:
Work with the right developer tools and workflow. Learn the basics of the command line, use a code text editor and install Ruby with a version management tool. Get familiar with most useful developer packages and learn how to version your code with git and push it on Github.
Write programs manipulating variables, loops, conditions and data structures (Array and Hash). Detect text patterns with Regular Expressions and start parsing data from structured files (CSV, JSON, XML, HTML) fetched using web-scraping or by building requests to JSON APIs.
Structure your software following Object-Oriented principles. Learn the Model-View-Controller pattern in-depth (most common application design pattern) by coding several MVC softwares from scratch. You will have to code everything on your own, even simulating your database storing data in CSV files.
Learn to design a relational database schema and to build structured queries to your database with SQL. Build simple CRUD queries (Create, Read, Update, Delete) or advanced JOIN queries. Learn to connect your database to your ruby software with an ORM (Object Relational Mapping) called Active Record.
Build your web pages following atomic design principles and code your own UI kit of web components & layouts by applying the latest CSS techniques. Build pages with an adaptive design thanks to media queries and learn to quickly prototype a web app with Bootstrap 4.0 and its responsive grid system.
Wrap it all together by coding your first Ruby on Rails applications. Deploy your applications in production & start coding “the Rails way”. Go deep into Rails discovering advanced concepts like nested resources, namespaces, or how to refactor an app with services or to build an API with Rails.
Code a clone of Airbnb from scratch in 5 days. You will work in teams to learn to collaborate on Github using pull requests and deploy your apps on Heroku, using the same workflow as successful startups. Implement advanced features (payment, image upload, search, geocoding, background jobs, etc…) and learn to cover your code with tests.
Projects Phase is the ultimate experience of the course: invent, pitch, design, code and deploy an original project in teams of 3 or 4 people during the two final weeks. You will have to go through all the process from the idea to the live app in production on a real domain name, ready to be tested on the market!

A bootcamp is a type of immersive training designed to develop important skills in a variety of areas. You can read more about here.
Interested in learning amazing skills soooo fast?🚄
A bootcamp is for you! This teaching methodology grows more and more in the world and is the future of education!
We currently have Web Development 👨💻 and Data Science 📊 bootcamps
Web Development is the area of creating websites
Data Science is linked to several areas of data analysis
Currently, like other technology careers, there is great demand from the current job market, thus making people who graduate in these areas get jobs relatively easier and earning well.💸
There are 2 types of bootcamp: Full-time and Part-Time.
They work as follows:
Full-Time Bootcamp 👉 Lasts 9 weeks, Monday through Friday 9:00h to 7:00h
Part-Time Bootcamp 👉 Lasts 24 weeks, takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 19:00h to 22:00h and Saturdays from 10:00h to 17:00h
Although there are exclusively remote classes, we are working with the hybrid model, that is, you choose how you want to complete the bootcamp, our methodology is not affected by this, but if you have the option to choose between remote or face-to-face
Maaaas, we consider the face-to-face model ideal for the experience to be complete. You don't want to miss our happy hours🍺, right?
For the Web Development bootcamp, you just need motivation and energy!
And for the Data Science bootcamp, you need to master basic math: functions, their derivatives, and systems of linear equations. Also, an intermediate level of English is required to understand the content 🤓
In Rio de Janeiro, both courses (Full-Time and Part-Time) are taught in English, you don't need to be 100% fluent but you need to be able to understand written and spoken English well and you have to be able to communicate in English, as our platform and exercises are in English and you may have teammates who only speak English.
In São Paulo, classes are taught in Portuguese, although sufficient English is desirable to read the material.
The Web Development bootcamp costs R$19,500 and the Data Science bootcamp R$20,900. These values are for Brazilians only.
For foreigners, the Web Development bootcamp is worth 6,000 USD and the Data Science bootcamp is 6,500 USD
So that everyone can afford this investment in a new career, we have some financing, installment and discount options too!
We have the following payment methods and discounts:
• From 1x to 3x without interest
• 12x (monthly interest of 1.89%)
• 18x (monthly interest of 1.99% ) • 24x (monthly interest of 2.19%)
• 5% for cash payment
• 7% members (if you refer a friend to the bootcamp and both pass our selection process)
We also have the ISA modality, designed to serve low-income people who want to do the bootcamp.
If you have any questions, talk to our bootcamp manager, she will be happy to help you with that.
Yes, each student must have their own notebook with macOS, Linux or Windows operating system.
Should I buy a specific computer to take the course?
For the computer, we don't have minimum requirements, if it runs the most basic programs well, then it will probably hold up well to our development tools, you don't need to have a spaceship at home.
On the first day, we'll setup the machines to install everything you'll need during bootcamp, so don't worry!
⚠️ Tablets like Microsoft Surface or Apple iPad don't work, because they're not real computers. If you need help purchasing equipment, please contact our team.
The first step is to submit the application form, it takes a few minutes to complete.
After our contact by email, we will schedule a quick conversation via video call or even in person if you prefer. This conversation is to understand in detail your goals and motivations, shortly after the interview you will receive the answer informing you whether or not you are the newest student of Le Wagon!
After we approve your application, we will schedule a 30-minute interview to get to know you better.
The tip is: be yourself! Again, we will be looking at your motivation, but we will also be checking your team spirit. As you will often be working with other people during the course, this is a very important criterion for us. If you're highly motivated and love working with other people, you'll probably be able to move on to the next step.
In online applications, we're looking for just one thing: motivation. As our 9 week course is intense and challenging, we only want the most motivated people. Don't forget to explain why you want to join Le Wagon - the more details you give, the better your chances of being selected for the interview!
Le Wagon changes lives so it is very difficult for an already approved person to want to drop out, however we do have a waiting list when classes are full in case that happens.
To join this waitlist, you will need to go through the same application process.
We usually open classes 4-5 months in advance. You will see the upcoming dates of classes in the city you are interested in on their page or through our social networks. We recommend that you register at least 1 month before the start of the class. There's a very important selection process for you to go through!
Our students come from all around the world! 🌍
We usually have about 20 students per batch, half brazilian, half international, coming from France, USA, Germany, UK, Canada, Spain, Poland, Sweden... Just last year, we had 20+ different nationalities in the bootcamp!
On average, they are between 20 to 35 years old - everybody is welcomed, as long as you're motivated and curious 💪
They want to change their careesr, launch startups, upskill at their current jobs... It's a very enriching experience and stimulating environment to study in ☺️
For our 9-week coding bootcamp, you can simply come as tourist. You will be allowed to stay up to 90 days in Brazil (3 months) so right enough to do the bootcamp (2 months) and still have time to travel around ✈️
However, depending on your country, you may require a visa to travel to Brazil. We're here to help you in this process and we're ready to provide any document to help you get it.
Make sure to check with your local Brazil consulate the document your might need.
For more questions & answers, you can visit our FAQ section! If you would like to discuss with Le Wagon team, don't hesitate to contact us.
