Discover our Hybrid Format

Decide if you want to learn remotely or on-campus

A day in the life of a remote student

What does this mean for you?

Most of our Bootcamps are currently running in a hybrid format, meaning you can choose if you want to learn on campus or from home, depending on the current local government COVID-19 lockdown restrictions.

All of our students have the option to learn remotely or on-campus or a mixture of the two formats for the duration of the Bootcamp. There is a space for you on campus whenever you want it, and you do not need to let us know ahead of time what you plan to do each session. However, you must make sure you are available 9.00am - 6.00pm each day of the Bootcamp.

Most of our campuses have been running for more than 18 months now with strict safety measures in place. The format works really well and we have all the tools needed to support you, whether you are learning on campus or from home.

It's difficult to predict what the situation will look like in the year to come. However, unless another full lockdown were to be announced, or recommendations changed meaning we could no longer safely have our campus open, you would be able to learn on campus for the entirety of the Bootcamp if you wanted to.

In the event that changes to recommendations meant we could no longer have students on site, we would move to a period of remote learning for all students until we could reopen the campus again.

We would not postpone, cancel or change the dates of our Bootcamps under any circumstances

On-campus learning format

Morning lectures, evening live code sessions and group presentations

All group sessions are taught through Zoom to allow all students, whether on campus or remote, to have the same opportunity to ask questions. If on campus, you will sit at your desk and join the lecture / live code from there.

If you and your buddy for the day are on campus, you will be able to sit at a table together to discuss the coding challenges and how to tackle them. If you and/or your buddy are working remotely that day, you will connect with them using a Virtual Table in our Zoom Campus (this is great practice for collaborating in a tech team after the Bootcamp!).

Group work

You will have a Virtual Team Table for the final weeks of the Bootcamp, where you will collaborate in your teams of 3 or 4 engineers to build your final product, manage your technical workflow and discuss any issues. You will have daily team standup with your assigned Teaching Assistant, who will join the room to speak with you and give advice as and when you need it.

When you get stuck, you will create a help ticket through our learning platform, which will be assigned to one of the Teaching Assistants on duty. You will then come up to the TA Helpdesk, connect your laptop to the teacher's monitor, and they will help you with your problem from behind their protective screen to get you back on track.
