(ii) Sponsored employee following the course should be on the payroll of the employer and paying the training levy

How it works:
The Graduate Training for Employment Scheme (GTES) is a Government measure which aims at improving the employability of unemployed graduates / diploma holders, by equipping them with the right skills through training programmes tailored to the needs of participating enterprises.

The GTES is being implemented by the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC).

Unemployed graduates/diploma holders are invited to register on the GTES platform to benefit from training and placement programmes.
Eligible graduates will be contacted when employers submit their proposals to the HRDC.

Pre-selection and selection of candidates will be based on the requirements of the employers.

How it works:
To better match skills with the demand of employers, unemployed individuals will be enlisted for training and placement in technical skills that are in demand. The NSDP is open to all sectors of activity.
The training and placement will be of 3 to 12 months’ duration. The trainees will be paid a monthly stipend of Rs 8,000, based on attendance and upon satisfactory participation in the training.

The programme targets unemployed individuals having studied up to the Diploma level (equivalent to NQF Level 6) and aged 16 years or older.
